Tiger Launch at the SF Apple Store (In H.264)

Tiger Launch

Here's a video from the Tiger Launch yesterday at the San Francisco Apple store. Nothing too exciting, but it seemed like a good way to "show-off" H.264 compression. Except -- I think Michael's right -- 3ivx is probably just as good... The video is at a 640x480 resolution so Mefeedia, ANT, and Ourmedia probably make it look all messed...

JD Lasica on Current TV Meet-up

Last Wednesday, the first meet-up for Current TV happened in quite a few places around the world. Here at the San Francisco meet-up we were fortunate enough to have some all star guests including's co-founder JD Lasica... here's a brief clip that I managed to capture when I suddenly remembered that my still camera can do video when I run out of tape on my mini-DV.

Meet-up for Current TV

Originally uploaded by blackcatmedia.
Yesterday, about 50 of us gathered for the Current TV San Francisco meet-up. We started out at Rockin Java but that wasn't working so well so we headed down the street to The Red Victorian.

Alan put this video together and it ends just before the meeting begins. My friend Ben taped the first part of the meeting, but I haven't had a chance to capture the footage yet. Maybe tomorrow.

From the Archvies: Matt 4 Mayor

Matt 4 Mayor

With that in mind, I rumaged through the videos I've made in the past and found this piece I put together to promote Matt Gonzalez's Mayoral race.

As most of us know, Matt did not win -- and looking back on it all -- the video has an almost haunting feel to me.

What do you guys think about it?

The Coachella line-up this year kicks ass...

So I only now had a chance to see the Coachella line-up, and Day 2 looks fucking incredible! Nine Inch Nails, Prodigy, the Faint, New Order, Pinback, the Arcade Fire!

Anyone that lives in the bay area reading my blog planning to go? Any chance I could get a ride? Every once in a while, I still wish I had a car...

The Current TV pre-launch party

Current TV pre-launch
Originally uploaded by blackcatmedia.
After actually sitting down to edit the footage I shot at the Current TV pre-launch this past Monday, I realized that I didn't have all that much usable footage.

I got some great audio from a few songs from the performances, some decent video of the performances -- but there really wasn't much to cut between and due to the crowded conditions, people kept bumping into me causing my camera to jump all over the place.

So, I took the track Goapele performed, dropped a few clips on top of it and pretty much cut the track at the point that I ran out of video to splice with it. It's rough, it's raw, but it's just a videoblog so you'll just have to deal with the epileptic camera work.

I may post another video with a few vignettes that are totally unrelated but somewhat entertaining.

Speed Interview @ Current

Speed Interview

After promoting the event for a month, I attended the INdTV (now Current) pre-launch party yesterday. There will be a few more videos to come from the event, but one of the most interesting things there was the "Speed Interview" booth that allowed participants to talk to a producer at Current. Here's what happened.
