All Empires Must Fall

Just found this in my inbox:

Dear Community,

The collective in support of July 8 anti-G8 protestors in San Francisco seeks funds for bail and legal defense of those arrested. Our immediate goal is to raise $5000 to post bail for the individual still in custody after one week. We want him back with us in the community! Let’s show our solidarity and pitch in what we can! Every little bit helps from $5 to $500! Once he’s out, funds will go towards the legal defense of others being targeted as part of this investigation. Please make checks payable to: Midnight Special Law Collective with “Anti-G8 Protest” written in the memo line. Send checks to: National Lawyers Guild, 558 Capp Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.

Please Note: This collective is distinct from any individual's legal defense team or the organizers of the action!

Thanks everyone for your support and solidarity!

~The Collective

Maybe I am confused, I have been from time to time....But if you come together as a group to oppose all form of government, aren't you to an extent a version of a organized govt. yourself? Or you would try to be if you overthrew the present govt? I always viewed that anarchy (the absence of govt.) would lead to a Law of the jungle in which most Anarchist would be the first to get their ass kicked....Similar to George Carlin's view that most women against abortion are the women you wouldn't want to fuck anyway?

anarchists are not against organization. they are against organization based on coercion.

most anarchists would say that society is too organized, and violently organized (ie the organization is to the detriment of the majority of the people who live under it)

so most anarchists believe that modern/western/industrial/capitalist society could stand to loosen up a little bit, so that people can begin to organize on the basis of need and free association, to provide each other with mutual aid and redress their wrongs.

to give a specific example, get the cops out of our fucking hair so that
we can form radical, militant unions and reclaim our work places. anarchists dont believe that the "natural state of humankind" is law of the jungle. thats a myth that is fed to people to make them accept the society as it is now (and our status quo is hella more violent than a "natural state of humankind" or even previous non-modern-industrial-capitalist incarnations of social organization)
